New Pay E Mail Internet Kiosks Fit Vacated Pay Phone Enclosures

  West Chester, Pa., October 13, 2006 – MEI announced that MEI announced that the newly-deployed Pay E Mail Internet kiosks utilize MEI Series 2000 Combo Acceptors to let users pay with cash, credit or debit cards. Pay E Mail designed and patented the kiosks with a slim footprint so that they can be easily swapped into existing payphone enclosures in airports, hotels, convention centers and rest stops nationwide, providing a new profit center.

Pay E Mail kiosks are vandal-resistant, constructed of heavy-duty steel and aluminum, and have a 15-inch flat screen and full-sized keyboard with a trackball mouse. The unit’s slim design severely restricted the available space for internal components, and so an all-in-one credit card reader/bill acceptor was an ideal choice.

“We explored several cash acceptor models, but only MEI offered the combined functionality of cash and credit card acceptance in one unit, minimizing the required footprint,” noted Glen Lancaster, president of Pay E Mail. “We decided to invest in the components that would be the most reliable and easy to use.”

Pay E Mail kiosks provide business and leisure travelers convenient access to e-mail and Web surfing. Internet access is now the number one request for new services at hotels, which represent the largest market for this device. The company will deploy more than 120 kiosks, including 50 with the MEI Combo Acceptor in the Atlanta Airport by year’s end. Additional installations are underway at airports in San Francisco, Houston, Raleigh-Durham, Orlando and Pittsburgh.
